Sebastopol, CA -The San Francisco Vegetarian Society is sponsoring a World Vegetarian Celebration event at Fort Mason, Building A in San Francisco on September 30th 2001. “While hemp was used as food in China long before soy beans, most Americans have never heard of hemp foods” according to John W. Roulac, Nutiva Founder and President and author of 3 best-selling books on hemp.
In his 10 AM, Sunday seminar, Roulac will discuss hempseed nutrition, recipe ideas, and explain “the hemp industry’s enormous potential for building a sustainable world.” Attendees will be offered samples of delicious and nutritious fresh hemp milk, a richer and more flavorful beverage than rice or soy milk, according to Roulac.
Leading nutritional researchers consider hempseed to be one of the most nutritious food sources available. Hempseeds are packed with 33% digestible pure protein and rich in Vitamin E as well as Omega-3. Omega-3 is the “good fat” that doctors recommend as part of a healthy, balanced diet.
Shelled hempseeds have a delicious nutty flavor and can be added to cereal, omelets, yogurt, soups, smoothies, salads, pasta, veggies, and desserts.
