Nutiva ® Introduces Certified Organic
Hemp seeds in a Pouch
Healthful Seeds Great in Smoothies, Cereal, Salads and on Veggies
October 15, 2004 — Sebastopol, California. Nutiva,
an organic foods company specializing in hemp- and coconut-based
food products, today introduced certified organic shelled
hemp seeds in a 10-ounce
stand-up pouch. "We are pleased to offer these great tasting certified-organic
hemp seeds in our resealable pouch," said the Nutiva founder and CEO, John
W. Roulac. Shelled hemp seeds are composed of 45 percent "good fats" in
an ideal balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, along with "super" Omega-3
Stearidonic Acid and "super" Omega-6 Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA). They
are also rich in vitamin E, magnesium, and iron, and contain 33 percent protein.
Hemp protein, an excellent source of vegetable protein, contains all eight essential
amino acids.
A shelled hemp seed resembles a sesame seed and has a light nutty flavor similar
to that of a pine nut or sunflower seed. Nutiva's 100 percent raw organic
hemp seeds can be added to cereal, yogurt, omelettes, pasta, salads, baked goods,
and smoothies. Shelled hemp seeds can be found in such other products as French
Meadow Bakery hemp bread and Nature's Path hemp waffles and cereal, as well
