Here is the latest piece from the NYT below on how shoppers are shifting their spending on food and other items as we enter what may be the sharpest downturn since the 1930’s. No need for panic - we all just need to review how we operate in our personal and professional lives when it comes to $$.
To save cost’s many organic food shoppers will buy in bulk sizes and look for deals. I predicted this downturn a few years back and thus positioned Nutiva to have a product offering suited for bulk buying with larger sizes of all our SKU’s.
Given the rapid rise of food and fuel cost’s which is just in the early stages of price inflation, many Americans will have little if any discretionary $$ left over after paying for housing, food, and fuel. Thus sales of trucks and cars, big screen TV’s, PC’s, clothing, jewelry, HI vacations, etc will all be cut way back.
What is also on the minds of everyone it seems these days is how do we live a healthier and more sustainable life ? Brilliant folks in Pasadena, California have their own plan with:
Quote:
The women said that soaring prices for food and fuel had changed what they buy and where they buy it. “We used to eat out at Bob Evans or Denny’s once a month,” said Ms. Rutherford, who works in an auto-parts factory. “Now we don’t go out at all. We eat in all the time.”
