Healthy Dogs Use Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil

Let’s heal the dogs of America!

More Americans are waking up to the amazing benefits of consuming coconut oil as their all-purpose cooking oil. Yet have you considered adding coconut oil to your pooch’s food ?

The October 2005 Whole Dog Journal article, Crazy About Coconut Oil: “Virgin” or Unrefined, this Healthy Oil has Multiple Benefits for your Dog,  reviews how this oil is effective for healing your loved dogs and cats.

Recommendations are to start with 1/4 teaspoon per day for small dogs or pups and 1 teaspoon for bigger dogs. Then one can gradually increase every few days.  In the event your dog seems tired or uncomfortable or has diarrhea, just cut back the amount temporarily.

To use topically for ears, cuts, wounds, mouth sores, cracked paw pads, and even on toothbrushes, remember that dogs often love the taste so they may immediately  try to lick it off. You can wrap the wound with a towel or shirt  for a few minutes, giving  enough time for the oil to be absorbed.

Here is what two satisfied pet owners said about using Nutiva organic extra virgin coconut oil on their dogs :

I loved this product!!! I have a toy chihuahua which suffers from allergies, I was giving her shots, and that did not work, her skin was very red and scabby; I read the other comments and I decided to give it a try, let me tell you It works!! I use it after bathing her, I rub it all over her body legs paws, and what a difference, no more scabs or red patches, she even smells good. I would definitely recommend this product.

AND

And it’s SO easy to use! They think it’s a treat and eat it with gusto. Best thing of all it works, their coats are so soft and their skin so hydrated. I have an Aussie that use to have terrible dry skin and nothing we did or tips the vet gave us helped, less than week after being on coconut oil and the dryness was gone. I can’t wait for our vet to see him. All three of my dogs have done a complete 360. This stuff works wonders.

So the next time you slather on Nutiva’s delicious coconut oil on some bread, or saute some mushrooms in coconut oil, make a note to add some to your dog’s dinner.  Of course not all coconut oil tastes the same. Nutiva’s has a unique light butter flavor that melts in the mouth.

Is it any wonder why Nutiva is America’s  leading brand of Coconut oil ?

Also, many dog owners are adding Omega-3 and GLA rich hemp oil to their pooch’s food. These rare essential fatty acids hemp skin health, circulation, brain function etc for people and animals.

Your pooch will love you even more for taking care of them with healing coconut oil and hemp oil that also tastes great.

  1. Mary Frances says:

I just purchased your Coconut oil as a recommeded hair conditioning weekly treatment and have now found the endless list of other positive uses especially with pets. I have 2 Samoyeds and 2 Maine Coon cats and will now begin to introduce to their diets for additional remedy for their long coats and breed related skin issues. I will post back in two weeks to report on the noticed improvement. Thanks Nutiva for helping us all!!!

  2. I use organic coconut oil in my hand made soaps and shampoos. I will have to try making doggie shampoo next! Hopefully my pomerainian will love it!

  3. My boys were conceived on Nutiva Coconut oil. This stuff can work for anything really. My boys have no idea what neosporin is….they just know coconut oil for their scrapes and burns. My dog gets it everyday and the skin irritations have ceased. Hemp oil has been great but there are cautions about the use of hemp oil on dogs.

  4. Gabriela says:

How old does a dog have to be to be able to put coconut oil on their skin?

    • The Nutiva Team says:

Hi Gabriela. Ultimately that’s a question for your vet. If your dog is old enough for baths and haircuts, they’re old enough to have coconut oil. Cheers!

  5. Coconut oil is solid below 76% and liquid above that temperature
