The NY Times is featuring a report by the Center for Science in the Public Interest that movie popcorn is bad for you because it uses

coconut oil!

Imagine that, folks!

coconut_tall_225It states that eating popcorn with coconut oil is  “…. like eating a pound of baby back ribs topped with a scoop of Häagen-Dazs ice cream.” What mis-information.

The Center has a long record of making false, unproved claims against coconut oil, and is a big promoter of Omega-6 rich oil like soy and

canola oil.

Note: coconut oil used in movie theaters today is refined coconut oil, but not hydrogenated. This removes the scent of coconut oil.

Please also help spread the word about this outrage of demonizing whole foods.

Please note that coconut oil contains medium chain fats which allows your body to convert this fat into energy.  Fat from dairy or meat is

much different and does not contain medium chain fats.

Populations who eat large amounts of coconut oil – from Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, and Jamaica – have low levels of heart disease.

Often,  these people move to America and consume the so called “healthy” polyunsaturated fats from corn, soy and canola products, experience unexpected weight-gain and heart disease.

Spread the word, and help us stave off this co-ordinated pre-hoiday attack on Coconut Oil.

  1. MARCIE CAIN says:

Shame on “big business”. Coconut oil is one of the best things out there for the human body. Yes, it is full of saturated fats. The kind your body needs. It is a medium chain fatty acid. The ones to avoid are the complex chain fatty acids such as polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids like those found in vegetable oil and soybeans. Coconut oil has been proven to reduce heart and liver problems. Shame on them for helping to put a scare in the uninformed people of this nation!

  2. I have commented at length – #159 – on the NY Times website. Keep up the good work promoting my favorite health food!

  3. People indigenous to the regions where coconut products are a main-staple of their diets are also some of the thinnest and most fit people on the planet. How many people of those countries do you see who are overweight? NONE! That is until they most to America and are fed garbage by both media and industry.

Industries and big pharma are going to start lobbing the media and fighting us about hemp and coconut oils more than ever. if Americans become healthy from eating healthy food, they are going to lose their businesses. They cant have that. Being healthy and eating healthy food is dangerous for modern medicines control over people.

Lets fight back by posting as many articles and blog posts as possible all over the net, lets flood the internet with healthy news about being healthy. Lets publish the truth and save LIVES!

  4. If you really want to understand the background for this anti coconut oil propaganda check out who is helping fund the Center for Science in the Public Interest – could it be the Soy Bean oil industry by any chance?. Another case of lazy journalism from NY Times and the hundreds of other mastheads that blindly ran this story. Dont worry, more and more people are waking up to this illusion about socalled bad sat fats.
