Nutiva's
Organic Pressed Hemp Oil
Nutiva
Crushes Its New Year's Crop of Organic Canadian Hempseed into Delicious
Oil.
Nutiva's
organic farmers in Canada harvested their hempseed crop in December, and
we just crushed this fresh, full-of-life seed into some of the best-tasting
hemp oil ever. Look for a December 2004 or later packing date and taste
this great oil for yourself.
We now offer
our Certified-Organic Cold-Pressed Hempseed Oil in 8-, 12-, and 32-oz
sizes. As most of you readers know, hemp oil has a light, nutty flavor
reminiscent of olive and peanut, with a beautiful green color. This oil
is rich in Omega-3, GLA, and vitamin E. You can blend Nutiva hempseed
oil 50/50 with olive oil when making salad dressings, and just pour it
undiluted over steamed veggies or rice.
Commercial
shelf space in the cooler section is always limited, so we greatly appreciate
your assistance in helping to verify the consumer demand for our hempseed
oil. Please ask your retailer to stock our new certified-organic 12- and
32-oz sizes.

Donation Spotlight:
Wild
Farm Alliance
Nutiva
donates 1 percent of its sales to groups supporting sustainable agriculture.
The efforts of these groups, taken as a whole, may range from GMO
labeling to community gardens or the banning of toxic pesticides or mutated
gene fragments.
This month
we're delighted to honor the Wild Farm Alliance, whose mission is to promote
viable agriculture that accommodates the full range of native species
and ecological processes that help protect and restore wild nature. To
learn more, visit http://www.wildfarmalliance.org.
One
wild-farm example is the five-generation Buchanan Family Century Farm,
which has left natural processes uninterrupted and preserved wildlife
habitat. To date, this Oregonian farm boasts more than 200 acres of land
protected under a Wetland Reserve Program, with ponds and habitat for
migratory waterfowl, beaver, frogs, turtles, native trout, skunk, coyote,
fox, deer, elk, and more than 100 species of birds.
Since its
inception, Nutiva's 1 percent campaign has donated more than twenty-five
thousand dollars to exemplary organizations, including:

Review
The
Future of Food
by Deborah Koons Garcia,
an 88-minute CD
www.thefutureoffood.com
If you want
to educate yourself on the state of food and farming in America, this
film is a must. The Future of Food offers an in-depth investigation of
the patented, unlabeled, and genetically engineered (GE) foods offered
in America today.
The film
explores how organic and sustainable agriculture offers the only viable
solutions to the growing of food and to the global ecological crisis that
the world faces today.
This powerful
movie should be shown in every classroom in America. Sadly, few students
will see it, given the undue influence of the "Gene Giants" (e.g.,
Monsanto) in school programs. You might consider screening The Future
of Food in your home and inviting friends and family -- and especially
young adults -- to learn more about how food impacts our daily lives.

Thoughts
on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Born January
15, 1929
Assassinated April 4, 1968
The
ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting
the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies
it. Through violence we may murder the liar, but we cannot murder the
lie, nor can we establish the truth in that way. Through violence we may
murder the one who hates, but we cannot murder hate itself. In fact, violence
merely increases hate. Through violence we may kill the one who threatens
us, yet our fear will persist.
Returning
violence for violence multiples violence, adding deeper darkness to a
night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only
light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Luther King Jr.
