Donation Spotlight:
The
Cornucopia Institute
Nutiva
donates one percent of its sales to groups supporting sustainable agriculture.
The efforts of these groups, taken as a whole, may range from community
gardens or GMO labeling to the banning of toxic pesticides or of mutated
gene fragments. To date, Nutiva has donated more than $35,000 to these
efforts.
This month
we're delighted to honor the Cornucopia Institute, a Wisconsin-based nonprofit
organization dedicated to economic justice for the family-scale farming
community. Through research, advocacy, and economic development they empower
farmers both politically and through marketplace initiatives. The Organic
Integrity Project acts as a corporate watchdog to assure the credibility
of organic farming methods and the food it produces. This includes resisting
regulatory rollbacks and the weakening of organic standards which help
maintain consumer confidence in the organic food label.

Review:
Hanna
McEuen
It is my
pleasure to review one the hottest music CD releases of 2005. Jaime Hanna
and Jonathan McEuen are first cousins and sons of identical twin sisters,
Rae and Kae. Spending so much time together growing up and always
living near each other lent itself to strengthening the bond between the
duo. Produced in Nashville, Hanna McEuen offers their own unique
style of country rock, harmonizing with a blend that is unmistakably linked
to acts like the Everly Brothers.

Music
Row magazine says, "Hands down, the best debut of the year" for
the duo's first album. A few weeks ago they even played on the Tonight
show with Jay Leno.
Several songs
from this first album are now playing on country stations including Ocean,
a slow ballad with great lyrics:
"I think
I will go down to the ocean...
I think I will go down and lie by the sea...
Sit alone and watch the waves break."
Jonathon
McEuen hails from my hometown, and I have been lucky to see him play live
at local clubs, parties and, recently, at their Dreamworks CD release
party. Check this CD out at http://www.hannamceuen.com
