The Best Ever Coconut Oil! Another great customer review

December 29, 2009

By Leora Rames (Wright, WY United States) -coconut_open_leaf1
I just bought this wonderful Nutiva coconut oil after hearing Dr. Jonny Bowden talk about coconut oil and all the benifits it contains. This has got to be the most delectable on the planet it smells like heaven and tastes sooooo good. I bake and cook with it, and after reading all the rave reviews about it being used as butter and on the hair and skin I will never buy anything but this again. Bye Bye Crisco, hello Nutiva.

  1. Garnet Campbell says:

Do you know of anyone using it to lower blood pressure would like to heaar from somebody

  2. Yes I recommend Nutiva Coconut oil for everything external and internal.. Please refer to a book called ” Coconut Cures”

  3. Hwoodie says:

The July/August issue of Well Being Journal ( has two good articles on Coconut oil and its effect on Neurodegenerative disease including Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, Autism, Dementia, Epilepsy and various other disorders.
The article eludes to the fact that a substance called “ketasyn” is contained in Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) which are derived from coconut oil.

  4. Margareta says:

How do you distribute the oil to your hands to use as a moisturizer for your body after a shower? Do you just stick your fingers in the jar, or put in a bottle to squeeze out? I don’t want to waste it or make a mess, or worse, get it on the shower stall floor to maybe slip and fall. Please advise!

    • The Nutiva Team says:

      Hi Margareta,
In our house, we keep a jar in the kitchen, and another jar in the bathroom. In fact, we break it up into several smaller glass jars and spread them around the house so that my wife has hand lotion nearby no matter where in the house she is.

    • Rosemary Lucas says:

I have been using coconut oil on my whole body and to remove make up for a many years, before a shower or bath I put the oil on straight from the jar. Depending on the room temperature it may be liquid or solid I just apply it with my hands all over and then I will use a wash cloth to clean my body. Because coconut oil is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal I don’t use any harsh cleansers. I will use a liquid body wash and or my shampoo that of course is organic to further cleanse certain areas as needed. After your shower you will not have to use any other moisturizer the coconut oil absorbs into to your skin and it remains soft but not greasy. Amazing :)

  5. Michelle Armetta says:

I get my Nutiva coconut oil shipped via auto-delivery from Amazon. I use THAT much. I use it on my English muffin, on baked sweet potatoes and in my smoothies. I always make sure I have two tubs because one is in the kitchen and one is in the bathroom. I slather it all over my skin everyday after my shower and it is absorbed so quickly and leaves a wonderful smell. I also use it once a week as a deep-conditioner for my permed and colored hair. It works wonders. Great lip balm, too!

    • The Nutiva Team says:

Thanks a lot for sharing, Michelle! We’re pretty addicted to our Coconut Oil in my house as well. We have little jars of it all over the place, so that my wife will be able to have her skin lotion close at hand no matter what room she’s in!

  6. Donna Circle says:

I need to take coconut by mouth, is there anything.

  7. I can’t get enough of this product! It has made my dry frizzy hair beautifully straight, silky, shiny and smooth. I rub a little in my dry hair before I take my flat iron through it. Years and years of trying to find some chemical laden product to have the hair I’ve always wanted and I can eat it?! Oh, and I love eating it too!!! :)

  8. hi. ive been using coconut oil for some time now. started just using it in the kitchen but was recently googling it for more info & found a site on oil pulling to remove toxins from the body. . i use coconut oil for this.
so many uses. i’m diabetic on insulin so im on a crusade to defeat it.

  9. Why does Nutiva label their virgin coconut oil as “extra virgin,” when, in fact, there is no such thing. I would be a potential customer, but I refuse to support companies that use false marketing schemes.

  10. Haha, and you moderate your comments. Nice! How’s that for unbiased reviews?! Please.

    • The Nutiva Team says:

      Hi OPT,
We moderate comments for spam and vulgarity. We approve all reasonable comments, even the ones we “don’t like.”

  11. I absolutely LOVE your coconut oil its amazing I tried it after getting some of that other crappy coconut oil at Walmart bc it said it was organic psssh it was terrible and I could tell it wasn’t any good so went to gnc and got this and I use it everyday for my skin n makes my hair amazingly beautiful no more lotions or hair products for me just this and I also eat it too and I’m about to do a kitchen makeover with all your products I know its the best just by trying this one product for the first time.

  12. Cooking at the Compound says:

I heard so much about your Coconut Oil and the benefits of cooking/eating it as well as a body lotion and hair conditioner! I was thrilled to find it at Costco! So far, I have used it in cooking and as shortening. I have a dumb question, when BAKING and a recipe calls for “vegetable oil”, do I need to melt the Coconut Oil before adding it? If not, can you tell me how much oil in the solid form would equal the melted form? (i.e. 1/2 Cup Vegetable oil would equal 1 cup of Coconut oil?)

    • The Nutiva Team says:

Hi. It’s much easier to mix when in liquid state. The volume required is the same either way. The ratio for butter or oil replacement is 1:1, and the ratio for shortener replacement is 3:4.

  13. Isernia says:

I have ‘ADOPTED’ NUTIVA products and I love them all! They are great quality, the prices are wonderful (for my budget!) and service is the best! Nutiva, you are an example of how modern business should be conducted and practiced: honestly, great organic products, a posture on the environment…. non GMO’s, looking out for the customer………….. I LOVE YOU, PEOPLE OF NUTIVA, please DO NOT CHANGE!!!!

  14. I would like to know the best ways to use Coconut Oil in my daily diet. I hear nothing but positive things about Coconut Oil and its benifits.
Looking forward to hearing your feed back.

    • The Nutiva Team says:

  15. Darlene Yurochko says:

I bought the coconut oil last week and I do love it. I heard it can be used as a mouth rinse to help with germs. I don’t know how much to use. Any idea on this?

    • The Nutiva Team says:

      Hi Darlene,
Thanks a lot for your purchase. You’ll want to do a Google search for “Coconut Oil Pulling” or “Coconut Oil Mouthwash.” Cheers!

  16. I think I want the Nutiva Coconut Oil, I heard it was amazing.

  17. I just bought “Coconut Manna”, I like it but at times it has a gritty texture, how come?
I put it on a sandwich instead of mayo & I put it on toast! I have read about oil pulling & think I’ll try it now that I’ve read even more! I mentioned it to my Mom as she just had a skin cancer taken off her thumb that wasn’t healing! I told my Mom that coconut oil has lauric acid,a natural antibiotic! I think it will work better than man’s antibiotics! She wrote today & said it HAS helped, she just used it yesterday!
    Thank-U Much So,Susan W

    • The Nutiva Team says:

      Hi Susan,
Coconut Manna is coconut flesh that’s been dried and then milled. It sometimes is gritty. We don’t put any additives to it to keep it smooth, so it needs to be warmed and stirred when first opened to get the oil mixed back into the fiber part of the product. Doing this will provide for a smoother product. Cheers!
